Lots of interesting things to look for there and I don't think any of them were on my list of potentials for my turn next month (possibly one but I have temporarily mislaid the notebook so I can't be sure!!)

I am not aware of any bench marks locally but that website gives an indication of some that I can go and look for.

I never knew about those OS benchmarks, although I had seen some of them without knowing. This one is on the corner of an old pub, now a house, on the way to the paper shop.

Flush Bracket OSBM S9674: Whiteparish, White Hart PH

Full details, and other very similar pics at bench-marks.org.uk

Only 9 to go now !

I've just been looking at that website and was pleased to see that there are several in my village - however on clicking further into the details of each of them a number no longer exist but I've managed to find a few photos on that site of some that are likely to still be there so I will be off out to look for them later!

Top-rate list SS! I shall enjoy collecting these and the bench-mark links are a real bonus :-)

I think I'm going to have to start looking out for benchmarks too. I've seen them in the past and wondered if they were some sort of measurement thing. Now I know.

I've just checked for a few local ones on my estate, but they've all gone due to home improvements or were on walls that've been removed to make way for driveways.

SS for clarification re bench-marks, as trig points have bench marks on them, they count too, don't they? (She says hopefully :-) )

I reckon so LazyDaisy. Browsing that website I've just discovered there's one on a sort of trig-shaped stone by a cycle track I must use three or four times a week!

I'm not entirely sure I understand the bench mark thing but there probably aren't any in Spain anyway

I'm not sure if this is the same as the link posted a couple of pages back but it is a really interesting blog about them www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/2018/05/25-years-since-last-benchmark/
