I was driving through a town about 20 minutes from me today, which I don't get to visit very often despite being quite close and as usual there were no parking spaces along the high street at all, except for one right outside the Adnams shop. I took this as a sign that I should stop and go in :-) A few Christmas presents bought (mainly from me to me) and a Broadside Christmas Pudding for good measure!

Excellent.

I prefer drinking beer in a pub. Rather than st home. My local micro does a fair few local bottled beers to take out on occasion. He has an ever changing 5 beers do never short of something new.

In fact I am off up there right now.

Yes we are in deliberations about which pub to visit tonight. The best ones are all a drive away but we have two within walking distance that are perfectly acceptable - I suspect it may well be one of those tonight.

HermanBloom & Southcoastpete do you mean Founders Backwoods Bastard? If not there's another I need to find by the sounds of it. The Founders one is delicious.

Hi RHB yes that’s the one.

If people like sweet but not too sweet beers then try Dark Stars Creme Brûlée. Had one last night coming home from a gig in Brighton.

I'm currently at an ultra in Belgium which is sponsered by a small brewery. Nice beer, and I drank my free finishers bottle, but at 7,5% and after running 100 miles also took over before I could do any real damage...

I bit the bullet last night and had the 14% Sheltered Spirit from Siren. It was tremendous and quite possibly one of the best beers I have ever tasted. Doubt my Christmas Ale is going to match that when it comes time to tasting :-)

My Christmas Ale turned out really good! No-one is more surprised than me. Have three bottles left that I am going to put to the back of the larder and see what they are like in a year's time.

Also got given a bottle of this for Christmas:

beerhawk.co.uk

Was thinking about having it on NYE but a pint bottle at that strength would have been a bit much. Going to need to think about when to have it, but it says it can age in the bottle for five years so no rush :-)
