When I was doing my apprenticeship, one of the instructors worked on Mosquitos during the war, which seems an awful long time ago, but is now about the same time since I did my apprenticeship. He has loads of stories. Including one foggy night a squadron being diverted because of fog, to an airfield which had FIDO, the fog dispersant that was big barrels of flaming stuff. Apparently they hadn’t accounted for the mosquito’s wooden construction, and as they landed, each aircraft caught fire. But with little fuel and nowhere else to land they had no choice. Exciting times to be a pilot

Hope you really enjoy the build. Found myself in LMS (local model shop) today, I've taken my first leap into vajello effect stuff, bought 'dark slime' brown engine grime' and dirt/grass. Mainly so I can disguise the mess I'm about to make on these tracks, which hangover permitting I'll be tackling tomorrow |

Got the track on my Revell Tiger. My previous attempt at gluing up the track with cotton thread embedded in the glue, this didn't work, and I had to break it all down, the problem with that was my previous effort f'd up where the tracks join so today I used masking tape to hold the segments in place while I let the glue percolate as it were, when I thought it had set up enough, just shy of ten minutes I cut the tape round the track and did my best to get it on. Didn't really work well, I think the tracks were too damaged from previous attempt to actually work. Luckily, the weathering stuff I bought yesterday can be used to hide the bodgery. |

Top work bud. Build up layers of paint on the exhaust and throw on some dust effect for texture. If you pre load a brush with paint and then flick it onto the tracks, hull and exhausts it will give the appearance of splatter. Enjoy the build 👍🚒 |
