Northern Exile
NE - I've just entered Langdale which will be my first time since 2015; the year I tripped and gave myself a scar on my throat I still have. That was also the day of the BG dinner where Bobs and I got our certificates. that seems a long time ago! That's brilliant, I have fond memories of that race. I think my days of doing Langdale are over, loathe though I am to admit it. |

Ah, the Yorkshireman a few weeks back? Another race I've done enough times to know better I haven't done many races this year, a troublesome knee has really put the brakes on me.

Not much happening here due to a troublesome glute/tfl/hamstring/godknowswhatbutitsapaininthearse.

Did a recce of Threlkeld to Ambleside for LiAD on Sunday, the weather was somewhat wet and windy so no decent pics!! Didn't see a sole until I reached Grisedale Tarn then there was a bus load of walkers and a couple of runners.

Took my little dog for her first fell run over the North York Moors at the weekend. She loved it and perhaps a sign of the easy pace she wanted to go out chasing the ball a couple of hours after getting back.

Run out from Austwick to Sulber Nick and back, did a bit of an alternative route on the return leg over Thwaite Scar. Felt really hard and HR was everywhere, am just trying to bounce back from covid (if that's possible) so I hope that was the reason. Then again, perhaps I'm just old and knackered.

Likewise. Whenever I've had it, it seems to knock any endurance out of my body, and my HR is 20-30 bpm above where I'd expect for any effort level. Suspected I had a bout (or maybe some other virus, but given Covid is rife around here atm it's the most likely answer) a couple of weeks ago. Ran a flat HM on Sunday (needed it for club champs) at what should have been a steady training effort. I was walking within 5 miles, HR was sky-high for the pace, and getting round in sub-2 hrs ended up being a huge effort. Or maybe I'm just old, knackered and suffering from a lack of training too! |
