I've still never done Ilkley Moor race, and wont this year as I'm at the YORUHM too :)

I work with the IM race organiser and he's still never talked me into it ;)

Well, I have to say that I think the Ilkley Moor fell race is a bit tougher/technical than Jack Bloor but both have their merits. I'd be sad to miss out on the Yorkshireman, so that's where we'll be going I reckon.

Wouldn't disagree with you there NE, but tougher =/= better. At least not always in my book.

The Jack Bloor route is just nicer.

I really dislike the down and up on backstone beck. Think it's just contrived and not very nice to run in either direction.

I was told that contrived down and up was to make the race an AS. I was thinking of the ‘occasion’ rather than where you run when saying my preference is for the JB

Just heard that the Turner Landscape race tomorrow has been cancelled :-(

Bobs and I recce'd this in the wrong direction (not intentionally). Very disappointed when we discovered that what we thought was a lovely decent from Grey Friar is in fact a flipping horrendous climb.

I didn't mind that climb too much on the race route.

It's steady away all the way up to Seathwaite Tarn and then a bit of slog up, but short, and then it's nice running most of the way round to the Old Man.

The bit that broke my legs was the climb up Dow Crag.

And the flagged field finish from Walna Scar Rd is horrible.

Horses for courses Fozzy. I was thinking that the descent from White Pike was going to be the best bit.

At a bit of a loss now. It's Round Hill on Sunday, but I run up there all the bloody time, I'm not sure I want to do the race.

White Pike to the gate on the road is quite nice. It's after that as it gets into the lower fields I didn't enjoy - it was rocks (smallish ones that hid) in the boggy bits on tired legs that I really didn't enjoy.

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, hidden rocks are never easy. Personally, I hate coming down bracken-covered descents where you can't see you feet and there are hidden rocks and holes. We came off Glaramara the other day more or less due east down to Langstrath Bridge and it was just like this, awful ankle-breaking terrain.

Borrowdale now provisionally a shortened 6 mile course taking in High Spy and Dale Head although it may still be cancelled outright too. I'll set my alarm to see if it's worth driving over.
