I don't think the Manc/Calderdale/etc lockdown has any legal impact on events? The rules for outdoor gatherings are still as before afaiaa: groups of no more than 6, socially distanced. Which is why club runs with staggered starts and small groups are still possible. Whether there is a social/moral responsibility is a separate question, and I'm with you in that at the moment we shouldn't be racing. |

That wasn't my reading of the govt regulations, flanker. Plus you have people coming into the zone from outside, which is supposed to not happen But I'm not totally sure. |

I went to the pub yesterday lunchtime with a mate. We both live in the ‘NW and West Yorks’ area that has increased restrictions atm. I’ve not got an idea whether we (or all the other punters - many of whom I’d guess were ‘tourists’) should have been there or not. My mate said if anyone asks we’re flat mates. I had to sign in but not out. My mate didn’t. If people can come into the area from outside to stay and use the local hospitality I’m happy going running wherever I like with a few pals

So I ran from swaledale over great shunner fell to Wensleydale and came back over abbotside common via white beacon haggs. The latter part was very much off path. And hard on very tired legs. Anyone know a better route back as the run over great shunner fell was fun, if a bit slippy on a few of the flagged sections. |

Sorry nobody responded to this Fozzy. I don't know any more than you do, but am also interested - there really don't seem to be many options in that area other than getting stuck in peat hags or falling down pot holes. Presume you went over Lovely Seat? Am considering a circuit over Great and Little Shunner from Muker or Thwaite, but would like to make it circular and other than walking down the road from Buttertubs it seems impossible. Any Dales experts out there?

Many years ago I met two lads in the Green Dragon who’d that day done the Swaledale Watershed (walk). I have a note somewhere of their route How long a circuit you doing NE? The LDWA Afoot in two dales route is mostly a real good day out |

NE, I went further E than that - footpath from Hardraw to Simonstone and then Sedbusk, then up the road/track behind little fell Clint, then the track all the way to the shooting box. What I should have done is carried on up the track and over white beacon haggs that way. But I went straight N from the hut to the beacon and then over top to the fell wall at muker edge. The bogs and peat hags are not easy running. |

Btw, there's a layby on the left just before the site, after the buttertubs turning. Avoids the pay car park in muker.
