Northern Exile May 2020 11:03am, 23 May 2020 6,429 posts	Quote Pin Northern Exile DT mentioned crossing from Wharfedale to Littondale earlier .... one of my goals for this year was to know what's around me a bit better, it's all very well aspiring to an encyclopedic knowledge of the Lakeland Fells but we actually live in Yorkshire and I know there is a lot of unexplored territory around Nidderdale and Wharfedale, for us at least Anyhow, that's a long-winded way of saying that we were going to enter a newish but not well-promoted LDWA called "The Kettlewell" that appeared to take some unusual lines, one of which was a trek up Mastiles Lane - which everyone knows of course - but then swinging NE and going over the intriguingly named Hawkswick Clowder, before descending into Arncliffe Cote. We were only saying the other day that it's been a few years since we did the full Wharfedale Marathon route, but I think we might try this instead.

One of our big orienteering areas runs over the top from Threshfield Quarry over Kilnsey moor and to Hawskwick Clowder. There are some really nice bits of limestone pavement you won't normally see if you just stick to the paths up there!
