well, I'm very tempted by the short course - and it not being sold out months in advance is an advantage. wouldn't dare enter now, but if I can do what I've got planned in the meantime it looks like a grand, if expensive!, day out

I don't think has helped that it's now on it's third owner in it's relatively short life. No doubt a heavily hyped social media campaign (e.g. Cheviot Goat) would change things, if that's what the race organisation wanted? From being at Honister on race day this year I got the impression the current set up is fairly minimal, though functional. So perhaps they are happy keeping it low key? If I hadn't known the 10 Peaks was on I would have assumed the CP was a slightly OTT BG support team.

Kong events do tend to be pretty low key, although from what I've heard they put on a decent race.

I've always quite fancied the long course.

Flanker the long course is just a 'short' BG you need to keep your focus on the full course! ;-)

Very fair point :-)

But at the moment I just need to get myself fixed so I can get back out on the fells and start putting the training/recces in, otherwise the 10 peaks short course will be a challenge, never mind a BG.

Good time to start ramping up your training. Extra value in anything done in the mid and rain ;-)

Thanks all, low key I quite like so long as it’s well organised. Honister CP was indoors and served warm food when I did it, so sounds like they’ve simplified it a bit (or just didn’t have the numbers to afford to hire the place).

Been distracted by calendar browsing and now wondering whether to do Ennerdale or Buttermere Horseshoe instead of 10P. Don’t know either area that well though so would need a recce. Hmm.

Training isn't the issue DT - it's the "fixing" bit I'm struggling with!

"an ultra that requires navigational prowess and route choices."
