I think he used the word ‘savage’ to describe the grading. Basically they’re run by hardcore climbers who probably have a different idea to what other climbers do if grading.

I wouldn't describe the grading at Sheffield as savage. On a par with Kendal/Keswick, certainly, but easier than Birmingham Redpoint, which I would say is closest to outdoor grading

I think it was a general northern comment about the fact that the centres are run as proper climbing facilities with climbing at the core rather than, as ours is, a wall attached to a sports centre….. so therefore it’s all done properly for and by proper proper climbers, rather than aimed specifically at anywhere and was all very light hearted. He was talking about the comp wall at Awesome and the grades you need to be able to climb to get up the really long wall and over and up the overhang….
I really enjoyed the wall 😀 I think it all goes back to just trying what you like the look of and giving it a go 😀
Redpoint is savage, however 🤣🤣

I found Sheffield very similar to The Boardroom on the bouldering. Didn't do a lot of ropes and wasn't climbing well so couldn't really say esp as I'm not used to features

I found the banding weird in the bouldering, but that’s just because I’m not used to it…. But it makes more sense, really.
I just wish the wall was closer - really enjoyed their roped routes. I think we’d make so much more progress climbing there.

The bands were wider than I'm used to and the overlap was a bit confusing.
I really enjoyed it. I'll certainly give the L'pool and Stockport ones a try sometime

We should set another date. What about April or May?

I’d love to. And that’s far enough ahead that we might even be able to plan it. Jamie's got Highers though, so will need to sort exam calendar first.

Sounds a plan Linds
Me and the VelociBees are busy the weekend weekend of Ap23/24.
I'll struggle to get the weekend either side of that off.
