[We do sometimes talk about going to the local crags, but then when there's a spell of weather dry enough for the crags not to be horrible we end up going out cycling or hiking instead because the activity-to-faffing ratio is so much more favourable. I suspect eL Bee! quite enjoys the faffing and geeking, but I'm not interested, I just want to go up the sodding wall.]

Sushi.
You read my mind V'rap.
Plus for me, with my fear of heights, I like to know that everything's been checked to the nth degree and there's rules in place making sure there is minimal risk of things going wrong.
(No horror stories or I'll be back to 4a's instead of 6b's and VB instead of V3)

I'm not at all bothered about heights and exposure and will happily do ridges and scrambles when hiking. As a latecomer to climbing, and having learned on an indoor wall, I'm just never going to get into the culture of outdoor climbing.

I'd like to try outdoor climbing. I have not particularly enjoyed outdoor bouldering but think I might be happier attached to a rope. In theory QP knows about all the faffing and metal things and could take me climbing if we had all the metal things and slings and whatevers. I'm sure we had a vague notion for an outdoor fetchie meet when we were organising Brum.

I’ve just spent a very happy hour rediscovering shiny metal doofers
Going to have to be an easy return though. Have an uneasy feeling that VDiff is going to feel very difficult.

You should maybe start on something beginning with E for easy rather than a Diff, Angus

Angus... I may dig out my not so shiny metal things. Not that I ever really use them in anger, I'm a happy 2nd.
