Thanks phal and Linds! Linds: was similar here, quiet and relaxed but enough people around for a good atmosphere. phal: will keep that in mind, noticed my gym does a fully supervised 1h30 give it a go rope climbing session, so may consider that soon

I was lucky to learn top roping and lead climbing on military courses years ago. Outdoors on real crags. It was superb. Later I joined a mountaineering club (The Cairngorm Club) with a dedicated climbing section and there was always someone experienced that was happy to give advice, lend a hand or even climb with you.
Join a club. It’s a happy way to go climbing. That’s what I think.

That sounds Ace. 😀
That was our plan Angus…. There’s a couple that meet at our wall and do other adventures. Then that Covid bollocks turned up 🙄 🤪

Did an hours bouldering earlier. They'd reset some of the walls so there were brand new boulders to play on. I was disappointed that one of my favourites had gone though.
Enjoyed that and the forearm seems to be OK - which is why I didn't do too long a session and stayed off the auto-belays to stop me getting sucked in to doing the pinchy routes again.......

I'm really not sold on the whole outdoor malarky. Think my fear of heights wind on that one.

That's a shame sushi. I realise it's horses for courses and all that and any climbing is good climbing.

Thanks for advice Angus. Going outdoors is something I eventually want to do, my group of climbing buddies are working towards it. Sushi, I have same hesitation at height/exposure so confidence will probably be big challenge for me!
Anyone's local gym use the Griptonite app? The newer wall in Cardiff has it and my main wall is literally just about to implement it, looks really impressive how you can track climbs, suggest beta, feed back on the route etc

That sounds good, phal
I don't fancy outside climbing either. I'm too old, I think.
PAJ, we have something similar but I haven't used it. It's called Kava or Kapa or something like that.

I'm just pleased I gave it a shot esp bouldering. I have been terrified of heights all my life so to start climbing at 46 and over coming it enough to learn to do some more dynamic moves and technical climbs will do me nicely.
