We were supposed to have our 2nd lead session today. The centre manager asked us to postpone it as he thinks that stricter Covid restrictions will be put in place tomorrow. He doesn’t want us doing the course then having x amount of time of not climbing before going back and lead climbing after a long break. So we top roped instead with a bit of lead practice included in the warm up. After warm up I worked on the 6b+ that I failed on when we last climbed.
2nd to last attempt I got fingertips to the 1st hold after the crux and came off. With a very short rest I had one last go and managed it 😀

It was a Very short rest for Dave because the centre was closing, I was on my new project (6b+ blue - very interesting, am about at the crux now and it’s a proper need for strength!) when they called last climb, so I made Dave let me come down and virtually threw him on the rope to climb. He did really well. *proud wife*
This learning to lead climb is fun and hard - although they didn’t do our taught session they got us practising stuff; they gave us a short rope to tie on to our harnesses and as we climbed we had to practise clipping in. Hardest 3+ route I’ve ever climbed 🤣🤣 so much thinking involved!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Leading introduces a whole new set of things to juggle with. It's fantastic 😀

It adds an element of thinking that we’re not used to.

It gets even better. Outdoors leading is the business! Finding gear placements, selecting the right anchor, attaching a quickdraw, clipping the rope (making sure you’re not too far above your last piece of security!!).
And you’ve still got to climb the route too.

I’ve not tried lead yet. I do so little top roping I don’t think I’m ready. I’m impressed that you guys are having a go. QP keeps reminding me he lead a 7a recently. I think he’s (rightly) proud.
