That's an idea. Otherwise we're effectively asking people just to give money "to charity" without them having the foggiest where it goes.

Clueless
Loving all the ideas floating around.
Just a thought, maybe a dawn 'til dusk event might be nice.
As soon as I wrote that I instantly thought of lots of problems with that idea, but it is so romantic, seeing the sunrise and sun set I shall toss it in anyway

i don't mind either way but were they to be the teams individual charites ( and more likely be local to the team instead of one of the big ones ) i would have thought each teams charity would be advertised so you could see where the money was going. Either way i doubt very very much is there would be a problem.

Isn't it a winner takes all event?
That could mean that the money you raise thinking that it will go to a local charity may end up at the other end of the country. Most folk won't be too bothered but some may not want to pay for a charity in the south east when they live in the north west or vice versa.
Just feel you may be able to raise a bit more cash if the teams concentrate on their own charity & the race is purely for honour & a trophy of course

Clueless
There was an idea about a Fetch charity or fund for disadvantaged runners. Runners like Mick and Phil who might be prevented from running due to financial constraints. Is that idea worth resurrecting?. I am sure that is one that would appeal to everyone participating.

Dawn to Dusk sounds nice, doubt that I could commit that much time though.

I see where you're coming from ogee. I personally wouldn't be bothered where the money goes as long as it was a good (and acceptable ) cause as it's the event itself that is a grand idea and bit of fetchie fun. Suppose there are many ways of doing this and one would have to be chosen.

I understand the charity issue. Shortly before I was born my father was third mate of an oil tanker leaving a port in a troubled part of the world. As they passed an inbound ship a machine gunner opened fire on him as he supervised the clearing of the afterdeck. No one was hit but there was something of a stink when the ship turned out to have been chartered by a major uk charity, still present in many high streets.
Charity choice can be very controversial.
