Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes Surelynot..more than possible!

All I've had of reasonable note in my garden is 3 Coal Tits--seldom if ever have more than two.

re Blackcap--there was one on Fair Isle on 19th November! From what I recall most of the winter Blackcaps in the UK are from eastern Europe, birds migrating here, westwards, as opposed to our Blackcaps heading south.

Lovely spots everyone!

It's not pigeons that are the issue where I live, but magpies. I had regular blue tit visitors to my first floor window bird feeder and occasionally great and coal tits. Unfortunately, the magpies scared the wee ones off and then tried to hang off it themselves. I had to take the feeder down. The small birds would have been exposed to the magpies too and possibly picked off by them. :(

Lovely little scene today, Cetti's singing away in a bush with a handful of Goosander and Widgeon in the gravel pit behind.

Spotted the local heron standing in the middle of a recently planted field of wheat. I wonder if they eat worms as well as fish?

I often see them standing in fields. Usually a field near a stream, but not right by the water
