I've been studying Spanish this morning, it made perfect sense to me.

How fab to see a Kingfisher so frequently ThorntonRunner--most of my occasional views are of them whizzing along a river. Just 500 metres from my front door this morning...a Cetti's! |

Fragile Do Not Bend
We were visiting the Margate & Broadstairs area so heard lots of ring necked parakeets.

Skylarks this morning, also hooded crows by the dozen. Was on run with the club up some challenging (flippin' huge and vertical) hills. Spectacular scenery. I chose to wait for the others and practice some ornithology. Legs bwing knackered had nothing.to do with it

Didn't see much on Skye last week; loads of cuckoos, some making quite strange noises, and I did get to see one of them, but not much else. Fabulous skylark singing, and lots of warblers, that were most likely willow warblers, but seem to have a slightly different song to the ones I'm used to? I know chaffinches have dialects, not sure about warblers? As an aside, the skylark recorded for radio 3 a couple of weeks ago is one of my local birds! bbc.co.uk |

I heard that ALL birds sing or even call in dialects..but in any case (I think), a lot of birds are now coming to the end of their best vocal performances so might sound different to when they arrived and were on top form. Five mile runs through woods and along river trail was maybe a bit late (7am) to get to hear many songsters, all very quiet except for one Willow Warbler and a couple of Blackcaps.
