Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

One thing having in mind is that many areas have active bird watchers who have either their own blogs or who contribute to club or society sites. I'm lucky because my home area is covered as is my in-laws (very different, but equally good) "patch"

I didn't mean to offend PO! Skylark was "Tweet of the Day" on Radio 4 early this morning. Best bird for me today--a group of a dozen Redwings flying low into what was a nasty, cold east wind!

haven't had any *real* thrushes in our garden for about 5 years now - the blackbirds used to bully them something terrible......

No thrushes here, but they are nearby. Same with pied wagtails, lots around but not to garden bird food.

Saw my 1st Raven in Bridgewater Bay, (along with many estuary birds) he was HUGE. Last thing I was expecting. But the best was inadvertently cycling through about 2 dozen Knot feeding along the sand/mud margin t low tide, Berrow Sands. Before I could feel guilty I realised they didn't see a cyclist as a threat. Or were as surprised as me by which time I was gone.

large (for this winter) flock of redwing at the weekend, and a large (ditto) of fieldfare the weekend before. but mostly conspicuous by their absence down here, this winter.

also little owl at the weekend. apologies if already mentioned in this thread, but the little owl project is asking for sightings of LOs to be recorded on their website littleowlproject.uk (dunno how to do links...)

I'm pretty sure I saw my first eagle this year whilst riding up a chairlift. :)
