Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Running down to parkrun this morning, 2 GSW's drumming, Cetti, Sparrowhawk, Gold, Green, Chaff finches singing as well as blue and great tits, song thrush, blackbird, dunnock, robins, wren, and several waterbirds. Great to be alive sometimes.

A rather odd thing just happened. I heard a tapping noise and went into the kitchen to see a long-tailed tit sitting on the windowsill tapping away at the glass. We regarded each other with surprise for a few moments before he flew away.

You're exposing me as a fraud Steve! My run through the woods did involve some fields and I probably did mean a skylark. I've only seen one once before and it was on open fields but I recognise the call. That radio transmitter type call. I was looking out for it hovering, but couldn't see it anywhere sadly.

LTTs are forever collecting spider webs from my window frames FragileDNB; maybe it was doing that?

Lots of skylarks for me today, and Golden Plover, Lapwing and Curlew. Plus the first frogspawn of the year.

I wondered if the LTT could see his reflection and thought it was a rival? No idea if it was male or female though.

I saw lots of swans in a field today. I'd guess around 25 to 30. I did start to count them, but it's not compatible with riding a bike.

Worth a check to look for Whoopers (same size as a mute swan but paler, more yellowy bill - check for straight necks when grounded, rather than the mute's "S-shape") or Berwicks (much smaller). I always used to think Whooper sounds like whopper nerd

Yup, that looks like 'em (having check on-line for pics). Not that I could see them clearly any more than I could count them.
We were in the wilds of the Romney Marsh (following club-mates doing a 20 & a Half) & they (the swans obv.) would have been beside a drainage ditch.
