You can tell it's half term, I'm actually getting a) outside on weekdays and b) on fetch!

Today's spots on our walk over the malverns = pair of green woodpeckers, buzzard, possible sparrow hawk sighting, and a bunch of crossbills in the trees munching on pine cones while we were having lunch. Very, very glad I had packed my 'noculars :-) the males are a beautiful colour :-)

Yay for crossbills :-)

I meant to remind you to look out for lesser spotted woodpeckers too. The Malverns are one of their last strongholds :-( Next time :-)

Still haven't spotted any "children" arrivals in the wilder places! Electronic worlds are clearly more fun for them.

Bittern, cross bills, great! Crow mobbing a buzzard today. The buzzard was inverting and it was like watching 'Top gun' :-)

I was sat on the cliff top eating my lunch today, watching a pair of black backed gulls gliding and cooing to each other. heart

Perfect Organism
I think I have to publicly state that my window feeder experiment has been a failure. It's been out there for a couple of months and I could tell that something was eating the goods as they would often disappear. However the only things I have seen use it are big magpies and dirty pigeons! Not exactly the type of birds you want inches away from you as you wash the dishes! Once a starling came down but he promptly flew off after he saw me. But no tits, robins, finches, blackcaps, wrens or small birds seemed to take to it. Shame really as it had potential.

I lived in the halls of residence at telford on the top floor(a few years ago) I put some fat balls up outside my window and within a week the blue tits had found them. Nice to watch while laying in bed.
