Never seen as many Redwing as we did on Monday. Must have been in the thousands; they just kept coming and coming all day.

I saw some weird satellite picture of redwings coming from Europe earlier in the week. There were tens of thousands apparently on the way.

I think we saw most of them 😮

At one point we just stood on the path for about half an hour as they streamed past - overhead, through the trees, in and out of the rocks and bracken. It was pretty mind blowing, up there with other avian "spectaculars" I've seen like the knot at Snettisham superhigh tides or the pinkies coming in.

Got some very angry and noisy seagull’s mobbing a buzzard. The crows seem less bothered.

Red Squirrel
Someone took a snap of a white-tailed eagle at Findhorn today and posted it to Facebook. It was up in the sky and a fair way away, but you can clearly see what it is!

Lots of geese here as usual in the sky, rooks & jackdaws in a huge flock and I also passed by the huge local rookery on foot this morning and lots of the birds took off.

Saw a large flock of redwings today. Took my proper binos out to get a look.

I heard lots of jays - frustratingly elusive birds. I've only ever had a proper look at one once when it was in open ground. The other times, I've seen a flash of white as they take off when disturbed.

I've had a very nice morning though.

One mipit up on the local moor. The occasional bird that over winters on the higher ground always amazes and inspires me

Seems to be a lot of them still around, both here and in N Wales. Not sure if they are staying later due to the warm weather or there's just more staying full stop. They're good little things :)

Red Squirrel
Sounds like my uncle saw a black grouse today, which is quite exciting. He was out on his bike and had stopped to have a drink and take in the scenery. Something at his right hand side close to him caught his attention (he has macular degeneration, so has to move his head sometimes to see clearly). At first he thought it was a corvid, but then spotted a large white patch under the wings and wattle. It wasn’t fazed at all, so he just waited while it slowly walked off.
