Excellent, Ronnie! I have to say when I saw my first white-tailed eagle (in northern Norway), I did some proper gibbering. They're such exciting birds.

Wow! I can’t wait to move up to the highlands and start linking in with bird groups and visiting the islands too.
No ETA as yet. Viewed a house today, but not going to offer.

Sorry best I could get. Totally out of focus.
How do you focus on something in the sky? Manually I guess.

um
Ronnie, what camera do you have?
For bird shots (and deer) I have a custom setting on mine (Canon), with a single focal point in the middle of the screen and an extra stop on exposure to try and get more than a silhouette. But the extra exposure risks more blur.
If I'm expecting closer 'action shots', I also have a pre-programmed sports setting, with a middle block of 9 focal points and multishot enabled, so I hold the shutter down, track the bird(s) and get 10-20 shots a second.
And I need to think ahead as to what shot is likely. Most moving birds are gone if you hesitate or need to start thinking about what settings to use.
Or get someone to hold their hand out with a sprat/sardine on it ...

Similar to um’s advice above. Fastish shutter speed and multi-shot, with either a wide focal point or a single focal point surrounded by several more.
I’ve was shooting with a Nikon Z8 on my recent safari trip and the software update has really improved the animal and bird detection so that I was able to rely much more on auto focus.
