HowFar?
There are a couple of greenfinches on the feeder outside my classroom just now. That's the first ones I've seen here for about 10 years I think.

Yes and stick it next to something familiar in size to help with scale please. Say a hooded crow

The sprawk has a proper look on her face. I suspect death is on the agenda and not hers

Thanks for the comments. I'll ask her to turn next time :-)

This was in my mums garden on Saturday, first time she'd been spotted there, and Derby you are very perceptive, shortly after that she whooshed into a small tree and emerged with something in her claws and flew off with it.

Fascinating.

We have red kites where i am but haven't see them take anything.

Don't think kites take much in terms of live prey. Mainly (entirely?) carrion.

Windsor Wool
I saw a kite with a slow worm the other day and I know that they hand around ploughed fields in search of earthworms too. But agree, mainly carrion. Or the cooked chicken breasts that some Windsor residents like to feed them with.

There have actually been some calls for locals to stop feeding them, particularly close to the local Tesco as folks in the car park were getting spooked!

I recognised that look and not from raptors but shall we say other females ;-)

That yellow eye... I'm glad I'm not a small bird!

We also have one or two that *could* be serins as they look different to the others but they don't come on the feeders often so I am not 100%, maybe they are just last years young ones?

Serin are a scarce passage migrant in the south and east of England, less than 100 per year. And maybe the odd breeding pair but not every year. Can you get a pic?

Eye colour says sparrowhawk, not common buzzard. I was expecting people to be debating whether or not it was a gossy.

I initially wondered goshawk because of the colour but also then wondered female sparrowhawk. I didn’t answer mainly because I wouldn’t have been certain either way.
