I know - always a sad moment that first morning when I come out and don’t hear them. 😔 It seems so quiet without them…

The thing to remember is they are ‘ours’. Even though they barely spend 3 months here they are born and raised here

GSW count? I reckon at least 3 youngsters
1 x very defined black & white feathers around the neck
1 x smudgy grey neck feathers, no distinct lines
1 x shorter & fatter, and looking more immature. Spends a lot of time hanging on the feeders, not actually eating, and more twitchy than the first 2.

Plus the adult female who we've seen in the past few days.
Not seen the male adult since we came back fom hols 10 days ago.

Rat count? 3 youngsters this morning. They got a spray from the hose .. which chased them away. Depends if they'll be back later to get cooled down again.

Need to find a trap soon. Or rent a cat for a week or two.

I'm working at Caerlaverock today. There were three spoonbills spotted on one of the ponds yesterday so I have my fingers crossed.

Plenty of small birds coming in to drink from the saucers under our plants this morning - have popped a dish of water out for them too in the shade. Currently watching a Dunnock hop about 😀

Not quite a Spoonbill - hope you get to spot them Surely!

Sadly the spoonbill had gone. I did get a first view of snipe though. They were really close up. Beautiful birds.
