The best of it is a woman saw us looking at dippers earlier on the river and said her husband had seen a Bewick swan recently with a Peking duck! duck

Now I've seen one curlew on the NY Moors, I can't stop seeing them. Another two, this time on the eastern edge this morning while heading to my race. Plus the delightful flight of a lapwing.

Heartbeat Hobble today then Paul?
When I was up on NYM last weekend running from Roseberry down to Claybank there were lots of Curlew about but they seemed to be mainly feeding on the fields below. I'm looking forward to finding Wheatear and maybe even Ring Ouzel up there (I know they frequent Rosedale).

Indeed. Itā€™s an absolutely beautiful part of the moors is Goathland. The race is a little bit fast for my liking!! Though apparently Iā€™ve bagged a prize which I didnā€™t expect.

Rosedaleā€™s not an area Iā€™m quite so familiar with. In fact true Rosedale Iā€™m not sure Iā€™ve visited at all yet.

Couple of smaller birds Iā€™m not always so great at identifying today too. Very probably pipits though as one or your previous posts.

There is some lovely running at Rosedale. Particularly on the old track bed. Terrific views and if you're into that sort of stuff, some fascinating industrial archaeology/history.

I heard the race was quick today and a CR for the winner. Well done on bagging a prize.

Thank you. I can't actually work out what the prize was for. I know I wasn't a team counter, and didn't expect to be in top 3 for my age categories. It may well be they just ran out of prizewinners and kept on going down the list!! I've not seen the full results, though I've worked out who were 1-2 anyway.

I actually created a good walk in Rosedale for somebody, so might have to check out my own work!! I've run along the old track the other side of Blakey Ridge, which offers easy running and stunning views across the valleys.
