I currently have a very tame Chaffinch that comes and sits on the window ledge by my feeders for hours at a time. I was worried initially because it didn't seem to move much and I thought it was failing but it's become clear that it's fine. It just doesn't seem to think there is much point in moving far from a plentiful supply of food and has found a sheltered corner to rest in between eating 😀

Just putting in an offer on a new house and we were in no way influenced by the housemartins flying round the garden and the bloke telling me they get curlew in the fields

Very excited offer been accepted, we'll be less than a mile from the RSPB Point of Ayr nature reserve. We're actually downsizing to save money, but there are certainly compensations with the local wildlife

Sounds brilliant bonners 😀
Very brave lone Dipper risking the flow on the Dove this afternoon. The river level was over the stepping stones and more suited to white water kayaking than for small birds finding food!

Lots of pied wagtails flitting in to roost in a tree last night. Twittery and cute

Well, I succumbed to twitcher temptation and headed up to north Norfolk to see the hoopoe that's been there all week, feeding around a big dung heap. Alas, no sign of it at all, in the two separate visits I made, a few hours apart. It was apparently seen at 9am but hasn't been since. Typical! Anyway, got a lovely walk in, some of it along the edge of the saltmarsh with abundant waders (including curlews), brent geese and others, plus an excellent pint of beer at a fine pub, so not in any way a waste of a journey.
