Large and very noisy skein of geese going over - could hear them for at least 5 - maybe 10 minutes. That's a lot of geese for August

Snoot
Just driving home and went straight past this owl. Sat there until I tried to get closer. Pics a bit blurry due to phone zoom.

All these photos and camera talk make me feel I'm way behind! I've only got a smart phone camera and wouldn't have a clue about even buying some kind of point and shoot thing. What would I buy as a starter?
Kinda funny on some occasions because I share my name's with Steve Young the well known bird photographer and on several occasions " in the field" people have (briefly!!) been more interested in me when we have made introductions😂.
Quite a few willow/Chiffs calling along my route today but b***** all else!

um
steve - choose a budget ... there's options from (almost) whatever you want to spend.

Although the newer phones can be as good as the 'starter' cameras.

Very little singing here now, and haven't heard a willow warbler or chiffchaff for weeks. Was cheered by the sound of robin singing a couple of days ago. Swifts now gone, I think - I'll keep an eye on the skies today, but haven't seen any for a few days (although haven't been deliberately looking).

I have a week's break planned for October on Mull. Looking forward to getting out and about - weather permitting.
