Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It is puzzling. Since you mentioned it I've been actively listening out for them and nothing. Yesterday I was round Win Hill and Chiffchaffs were calling but in a prime WW environment nothing! I think the lack of Dippers maybe due to the amount of water at present. I often find the river levels rise they disappear. I think they head for smaller side streams because the flow rate in the main rivers is just too great for them to find food effectively.

My WWs seem to have stopped singing completely, but the chiffchaffs are all calling. More than they have done for weeks.

Watching swifts out the bedroom windows. They're so low I'm having to look downwards, and no, we're not in a castle or tower block :-)

I did get a brief glimpse of a pair of pied flycatchers a couple of days ago, and that's something I wouldn't expect to see in Norfolk.

There was mention on here of the lammergeier. This article - birdguides.com - shows a clip from a video of the bird "taken near Cressbrook on 6 July". Well, I was in Cressbrook on 6 July! Near miss. I was probably looking out for redstarts around me and not looking up!

In fairness redstart is more likely that vulture in Peakland ;-)

Buzzard on my bike ride this morning. Made a change from the usual red kites (although I did see them too).
