About 30 starlings landed in the garden tonight. Just beautiful.

Grasshopper Warbler on tonight's run. Managed to get within about a metre of it (I don't think distancing applies with birds?) and got a decent view for once. Plus pied and grey wags, a rare (for here) couple of starling, ducks, geese and all the usual.

Great to SEE a Gropper! It's years (and years!) since I saw one. Raining today on my run for first time this month. Birds singing loudly along trails including Cettis! Another "hard to see" bird.
The new "running arrivals" (since Covid lock-down) were nowhere to be seen today!!! That's what rain can do!

Saw a garden warbler yesterday and got very close up to it. First for me.

Severe warbler envy
I’m really missing being able to go to the Strid Woods with lockdown

I saw a large bunch of pied wagtail in the town car park the other night. A good number of them roost in a nearby tree in winter, but at this time of the year I would have imagined them all in separate near sights?

Nest sites, even! Could be, DT, I always assume small birds breed in the year after they hatch as they tend to be short lived, but really don't know. Potentially could be a family from this year, but none had the scruffy teenage look most fledglings have.
