Lots of singing warblers (Reed, Sedge, Chiff, Blackcap and a Whitethroat) on this morning's run and then I came across a guy with bins looking intently at a particular bush. Enquired as to what he had seen and he pointed out a pair of Garden Warblers that were clearly visible with the naked eye as well. He heard one of them in the hedge and then spotted them but at this point they were silent so I'd have missed them without him. First of the year for me.

Walk along the river this afternoon. Delighted to see sand martins. But the star of the show was a kingfisher. I'd taken my binoculars so had about 5 minutes watching this cobalt blue dart diving for fish off a tree branch before it flew on and out of sight.
Magical. It's really made my day.

I can't find this bird in my book. I spotted him on our aerial when I was cleaning out the gutters this morning.
