He was only defending his lady-friend on her nest
He did actively chase me to get me though - bloomin' nippy these geese, and I was running at the time!

first definite wheatear tonight, plus mippits, skylarks, crows, ravens, the sound of stonechat. mallards, grey wags, our local couple of black and white ducks (will they have grey chicks?), and some aggressive Canadians.

Surelynot, I'd say bullfinch as well. You definitely see the white rump as they fly off.
No massive bird excitement for me yesterday, but two oystercatchers on my local patch, which is unusual, a loudly-drumming GSW, a reed warbler, reed buntings, and lots of whitethroats. I only heard my first of the year on Wednesday, now they're everywhere!

Bat last night, mallard with 14 (!) very young ducklings. Then a dipper where I haven't seen one for at least 4 years, grey wagtail and the first swifts of the year!

Two, DT, doing their fighter jet impersonation and surveying the area. There is a shop in the town which has several stories above it. They have swift nest boxes and play their calls to attract them, which works each year. We have mobs of them doing aerobatics around the town hall, which makes a sunny day feel much more like France than Northern Ireland. Great to see them back!
