Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Just lately we have been having our four perch nigella seed feeder full of goldfinches which is a joy to see.
This afternoon however, I saw a large flock of birds descend on a neighboring large tree.
I had a look through my binoculars to see a flock of probably fifty or more goldfinches. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen so many at one time.

Lone swallow around Buttermere yesterday. Suspect it left something in the B&B and had to come back for it.

Lots of antipodean species spotted in the last few weeks. Not sure which ones are top - pair of brahminy kites stealing from other birds - or kookaburras that let you go up to about a metre from them.

In Spain last week and saw my first ever Hoopoe.

Lots of geese last night returning to the Solway after feeding rather than arriving from the Arctic.

Went for a stroll along the Nith in town yesterday and got a great view of a Kingfisher skimming over the water with full neon lights on.

Stood at RSPB Langford Lowfields watching my first flock of Redwings this winter when several swallows appeared in the same piece of sky. Which was something of a surprise and had several members of our group doing a double take. We decided they must have been booked on Thomas Cook 😉

Also found 4 Whoopers in amongst a group of Mutes grazing by the river to get them off the mark this winter.
