Summer is hanging on in the Peak. We still have the second brood of House Martins resident in the nest, though I watched them feeding on the wing this morning so I suspect they'll be gone pretty soon. And I saw several Wheatear while out on the moor above the Goyt Valley this afternoon (no Curlews evident though). ![]() |

Thank you for the post flyingfinn. Was coming to post in confusion tonight. On our estate this evening about 10-15 housemartins feeding. I presume the same as yours, soon be on their way. Not sure I've seen them this late before.

Also surprised by the number of house martins careering around this afternoon. Hope the late broods can feed up well before their travels

Not posted for a while but enjoy keeping up & love the photos. I wasn’t aware of this, that wind wasn’t cycling friendly, but at Portland Bill on Friday, observers estimated possibly 5000 swallows going over portlandbirdobs.com |

Lots of swallows still swooping around in the New Forest in recent runs. But sorry, no pics - a) wrong camera and b) they are a bit too fast, even if often very close |

Lots of Swallows at Ilam/Dovedale yesterday during the English Champs Fell Race. I thought they might be just moving through but a check of the nests under the arches at the Hall later on revealed lots of nests still full of second broods.

Four long tailed tits on our feeders on Friday. We’ve never had them in our garden before and haven’t seen them again since early Friday evening.
