I don't know where "our" Lapwing are getting ready to go to - but they seem to be getting ready to go. They fly together a bit like a starling murmuration in the evenings. But were still all in their usual fields yesterday.

Interesting thoughts about hearing and not seeing; I suppose it depends what you want to achieve. I'm more interested in observing behaviours than creating a big tick list, so *just* hearing them is of little interest to me.

I'm also like Frag - I can't remember a song from hour-to-hour, never mind the next day.

I went to the river today but there was hardly any bird life as it was fast flowing and nearly over the top. I saw a cormorant fishing in it though and later on I saw a kestrel on some electricity/telephone cables.

Birdsong superb this evening- still no idea which bird making which noise though ;)

Kestrel was sure that I was a threat - I wouldn't have spotted it if it didn't fly from tree/post/pole to the next one each time Ralph and I got close

No sign of little owl, barn owl briefly but it went off the other side of the copse and didn't see it again

Some good spots going on šŸ‘ love the noise lapwing make šŸ˜€

We had eight Little Egret in the horse field yesterday.

I keep trying to work on my birdsong ā€˜head libraryā€™ some are easy to remember..... others far less so!!!

Hoping to head to Brandon Marsh with Dave tomorrow to see whatā€™s about šŸ˜€

flanker, for me listening to birds is nothing to do with a ticklist. I just love to know they're there, where they should be, and if I hear them it gives me a good feeling (enhanced if I see them as well).

Iā€™ve been birdwatching for over 35 years and donā€™t keep lists. If weā€™re away for a week I might make a list but I donā€™t keep it. Every year I say Iā€™ll make a note of my fist chiff or last swift but I never do

Probably mundane but we have a male and female chaffinch, first I've seen here since ......... well I don't remember seeing them!

Over the weekend there was a flock of long tailed tits being very amusing in the wind.... I was amused they probably weren't. :)

Running on the downs today I heard lots of skylarks, and Iā€™m also pretty sure I heard a buzzard. Thanks for the heads up on those DT!
