Beautiful Barn Owl hunting in the late afternoon light just off the Pennine Way near Kirk Yetholm when we trotted out to give Shelli Gordon a cheer as she headed in to finish 2nd lady and raise well in excess of £20K for Campaign Against Living Miserably.

Nice. Last few weeks been a bit of a blur for me but noticed bulbs coming up and a nuthatch calling in a friend’s garden earlier this week. Yes it’s mid-winter but for nature spring isn’t far away :-)

Apart from the occasional cold couple of days, we’ve had a mild winter here so far. Bulbs coming up in the garden and a lot of bird activity locally and at work.

Waxwing are always interesting. Basically starlings that aren’t starlings. It’s like meeting an old friend who’s changed their hairstyle (to a Mohican!)

No sign of any waxwings, but I heard GSW drumming this morning :)
There are half a dozen sparrows on the bush under my kitchen window - making an almighty racket!
