Thanks for the link Chrisity - looks unlikely, nothing on there. Hopefully I'll see it again and remember description better next time. That link des mention redwings not far away - haven't seen them here in their usual spot yet though. And I thought you might like today's accidental gps art |

Yeah, read that Redwings were seen on Fair Isle in mid week too but none down here yet. Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Blue Tit (10) in my garden this morning. Cetti's singing along path of local Park Run (which I don't run!). Have had a ridiculously quiet three months birding wise.

No redwings around North Wales at the moment, although on my stroll today it was noticeable that all the trees and bushes are laden with berries in readiness. Has Derby Tup predicted a waxwing year yet 😀😀?

Isn't it 'irruption', DT? Anyway, hope you're right, haven't seen waxwings for years. We have a pyracantha in the garden with a fine set of berries this year, waiting for winter birds. We've had redwings on them before, but the trouble is that blackbirds normally snaffle them all before redwings come along.

Lots of what I thought must have been sand martins swooping around the cliffs this afternoon.

I saw redwings (I had to use the RSPB bird ID page to know that) for the first time earlier this year when we had the snowy spell. Apparently they normally avoid gardens but because of the prolonged cold weather they were having to approach to have a chance of getting food. I put a load of apples out for them on the recommendation of the RSPB, so hopefully they will remember my garden as a good place to come and visit again. It was great to see them - about 20 all landed in a nearby tree all at once.

Bee-eater in Haltwhistle this morning. I don't normally do twitching, but it was fairly local and they are lovely birds, so I went to have a look.
