Brent geese are a bit like say shellduck in that you’re unlikely to mix them up with anything else. Small geese and dark grey / monochrome colourway. That’s about it

Finally heard some skylarks today, but my local ones haven't been heard by me yet. Let's hope it's just me.

I’ve done quite well for skylarks this year but I don’t think I’ve heard a willow warbler yet :(

Blackcap, chiffchaff, wren, blackbird all singing on this morning’s dog walk. Drumming GSW heard too. A nervous wait now to see if there are any local swift here on the new patch

Long day out on the moors over the weekend for the Fellsman event :-)

More mipits, skylarks and curlews than you could shake a stick at, a handful of red grouse, and heard my first willow warbler of the year in the car park before the event :-) flanker had a speculative shout of ring ouzel but I didn't see it...

No wheaters though :-(

In domestic news, 'our' robin had a right pout on this morning because the feeder had been emptied over the weekend, and 'our' dunnocks are looking especially cute in the cold weather, feathers puffed up to the point of being spherical heart

Heinzster, brent geese seem likely. They occur in huge numbers on Strangford Lough, not far away, so I'm sure they're present on Belfast Lough as well.

Not much to report round here, although river run tomorrow so hopeful of seeing if the sandwich terns are back.

In other news the Robin was back in the garden, bit of a worry as not been around for a few days.
