Close up views of a Whitethroat on this morning's run plus singing Reed, Willow, Blackcap and Chiffchaff. I think there may also be nesting Ravens within a short distance of home. Lots of visitors to my feeders as well this week including a regular GSW, pair of Nuthatches and up to five Goldfinch at a time with the sweeping up being done by the Dunnocks and a lovely little Field Mouse that seems to be living in the garden wall. Just need to find away of getting rid of the fecking squirrel now!

J2R and flyingfinn...super obs of our warblers! I wish I'd checked things a bit more closely this morning because I had my first Lesser Whitethroat towards the end of my run, a mile away from home and hadn't checked out the waterside lot!

Lesser whitethroat is a great spot, steve45! Never seen one on my local patch, but have seen them on the coast a few times.
My regular run delivered a first reed warbler of the year for me (as well as a whitethroat, multiple chiffchaffs, blackcaps, sedge and Cetti's warblers). Still no willow warblers, though. Really puzzled why they're not around.

Barn owl yesterday evening spotted in one field, then watched for several minutes in the next field (in the Midlands)

Not classic / conventional birding possibly but I was bosting for a tiddle this evening on my way home in the car, so pulled up for a ‘wildie’. Peering over a drystone wall I spotted two red legged partridge in the field. Then I heard a skylark way above me. Something else caught my eye as I was zipping up: a small to medium angular looking bird. I then heard it. A drumming snipe!

Fragile Do Not Bend
I was at a wildlife park and one of the most unexpected things I saw wasn’t captive - a treecreeper feeding a fledgling mere feet away from where I was stood. It was also a few feet away from the wildcat cage, the wildcat was going nuts because he couldn’t get to the birdies. 😅

Had a long run through the countryside last night and was pleased to hear a sedge warbler prattling away, later a skylark and a greater spotted woodpecker.

Swallows along the Nith in Dumfries yesterday. Cold and windy for them but they seemed to be finding lots of food.
