Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I also spotted a group of big waders: them’s small curlew I thought. Only about 2/3 size. And them’s got short beaks. Whimbrels!

I tried to attract ducks to the pond with a duck house - but Moorhens have commandeered it and I just saw one chasing a pair of ducks away :(

I went down by the river today and the swan's nest has been abandoned. It's probably too public now since they put a new path in and cut any undergrowth away from the bank so it's in full view of everybody passing by. :( I did see a pair on the weir pool but it may have been another pair.

We saw 2 pairs of rb mergansers on Buttermere today, my first common sandpiper of the year, and finally, a wheatear.

Most jealous of DTs whimbrel. One of those birds that I should be able to see on the river, just always missed them

Heinzster - you've probably already found the answer to your question a couple of pages ago, but apparently playing 'swift attraction calls' is recommended to attract first year breeding swifts to new nest sites.
