Still puzzled where the willow warblers have got to. I ran past plenty of willows that needed warbling. Last year there were far fewer of them round here than usual, but steve45 reported plenty in his part of the country.

There are flies here today... surely swallows must be next?

A blackcap in my parent's garden today. Possibly the most exciting bird they've had since the single redpoll in 1975.

Yes, flies indeed! In fact today I very nearly swallowed a butterfly which bumped into my lips as I was running, something which hasn't happened before. Seeing as I only saw my first butterflies of the year a few days ago, this would have been unfortunate.

I let two peacock butterflies out of the barn yesterday, I assume they had overwintered in there.

Nothing exciting on last night's run down the Cam except a personal best (worst?) for the number of flies swallowed. No sign of ducklings yet

Late for ducklings. The thrushes have all stopped singing here. Hopefully they’re well on their way with their thrushlets *hearts*

Thrushes still at full volume here. And robins, dunnocks, wrens etc too.
We're hoping for dunnocklets in our ivy . And despite never getting them in the garden normally, a pair of goldfinch seem to be getting cozy in the buddleia

Saw lots of red kites as we drove across Switzerland last week and the odd eagle or 2.
What I think may be redwings in a local field on my run last night.
My friend (who lives on the edge of the New Forset) said she heard her first cuckoo last week.
