Picked my moment, waited for a bit of a decent weather window and here is my Birdwatch list :

2 blackbirds

4 collared doves
2 goldfinches

5 sparrows

1 robin

3 starlings

1 herring gull

Missing off the list, all of which have been daily visitors in the last week, LTTs, large flock of goldfinches, about 30 starlings, a pair of blue tits, a pair of coal tits and more sparrows. Exactly the same as last year, they wait and I guarantee they're all hiding and about to make a grand entrance 😀

:)

We’re in Devon and I’m listening to a wren singing it’s heart out now (and rain absolutely lashing the windows)

Just eleven species in my urban garden today for the GARDEN WATCH. No Greenfinches here either but I only see maybe one a year in the garden. Best was a small group of 9 Long Tailed Tits. The weather was "ugh" with heavy drizzle.
Continued great spots Flanker!
Now that's a name to remember..Whio ! Sounds like you had a good trip TomahawkMike.

At least you had the LTTs, just seen our crowd over the road huddled in a bare tree, with no food. Ungrateful so and so s!

Steve45, yes, that was one of a number of highlights. It was also nice to see a pair of Kea messing about near the Midford Sound tunnel. Was hoping to see a Kiwi or two but no joy despite being in several of their tramping grounds

My ten miles round the res in the rain this morning had the bonus of 12 Whooper Swans. They're not unknown here but it was a site tick for me :-) now up to 80 species for January which is a great start to the new year.

^ not sure how above post came about. It was a Watsapp reply to a pal!

I saw three classic Lyme Regis species: rock pipit, pied wagtail and purple sandpiper
