Hmm...dunno about April Fool but I'm a January Fool...the Big Birdwatch shouldn't have been today! It's 27th-29th January! I was too eager because of the weather forecast...maybe I'll see a better selection tomorrow!

Great walk around the Great Orme today, highlights were a beautiful female stonechat who helpfully posed for a photo, some great cormorants and a few seals chilling on the beach. Getting all the feeders full after parkrun as time for my birdwatch.

HowFar?
We did the schools birdwatch today. 14 species with goldfinches being the highest scorers with 12. We also had Siskin, but no greenfinch this year.

Doing mine tomorrow Steve as the weather is looking not too bad. Would be really pleased if I saw a greenfinch or siskin, but both real occasional visitors. My real will he or won't he question is the grey wagtail.

Better weather over the last couple of days has improved the spotting down in Norfolk. The highlights probably being bearded tits, purple sandpipers, black redstart (my first), a pair of stonechat and an evening at a raptor roost watching all the marsh harriers come in - 29 at once at the peak time. Tonight's sunset barn owl was very obliging, doing several passed in front of the camera.

Just a few hundred photos to process now...

Stubb Mill, flanker? Cracking place. In one sense, it's clearly a terrible place to be a vole. But there must be many positives otherwise there wouldn't be so many there.

Some good spots going on 👍 one thing I have missed this year with not teaching is doing the birdwatch HowFar? Great to hear what you’ve seen.

Yay for barn owl flanker, and wow for the raptor roost too!!

Tufted ducks and goosanders at Brueton parkrun this morning.

Think we’ll do our birdwatch tomorrow too. They’re all well tucked up in the bushes today. Our very low usual count would be dismal today!!!

Making a trip out this afternoon in the hope of seeing hawfinches. I fear they may have already flown from the place we're going, though - hope not. I know I will be like a little over-excited boy if I see one.

Whilst on holiday, I got stuck on a river in NZ about 2.5 weeks ago and saw some Whio's (blue ducks). Two pairs and a single. (white water rafting. The river was too low which caused some problems, not least a leak).
