Enjoying the image of Flying Finn spitting woodcocks, or is he looking to barbecue them?

Very noisy Green Woodpeckers around the garden, a glossy Jay and a Sparrowhawk putting the Woodpigeons to flight.

Happy - single stripe or multiple light/dark stripes? If the latter could be a dunnock.

Siskin sounds good shout. Surprisingly colourful

I had a trio of raptors on my drive home tonight: classic hovering kestrel, soaring buzzard and a skulking low-gliding sparrowhawk

I was running along the Norfolk coast path today and happened upon a little flock of snow buntings - a real delight. Also, something which is by no means a rarity here but which always gives me pleasure, a flock of extremely tame turnstones. They were just a few feet away from me, completely unbothered by me. In fact the snow buntings were quite tame, too.

I've heard that the birds which breed in the far north or arctic tend to be tame, as they're so unused to people - waxwings are another example. But that doesn't make sense to me as they come across enough people when they overwinter further south (such as here).

Confiding is the word often used. Add dotterel and phalarope (species) to the list

Yes, I've heard the term 'confiding' as well. Always strikes me as a bit odd. They didn't confide anything to me (or maybe they did, just not in a language I understand).

How do you explain the confiding behaviour? Is it that they just don't come across humans when they're chicks?

What a treat to see Snow Buntings J23.. you're in a much more exciting location birdwise than I am!
I think Long Tailed Tits are particularly "confiding"..
Bullfinches in garden this week.
