Dio, Soundbuds Slims are still available I’ve got a pair as well. £25 on Amazon https://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjM6M7JpYLtAhVP7e0KHZWLCa0YABAEGgJkZw&sig=AOD64_12o9ooqs8_F4j--sxCaPu8O6p_aQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwj24sjJpYLtAhWvTBUIHR31BXcQ5bgDegQIHhBA&adurl=

It’s all a very personal choice so please no one think I’m challenging another point of view. This is just from my perspective.

I run with music/podcasts 95% of the time whilst covering roughly two thousand miles a year. I’ve tried every kind of head phones/cans/buds option over the years.

The best buds I’ve ever found (music quality, battery life, fit to my ears) have been the Bose SoundSport Free (as in wire-free, certainly not cheap). The only downside for me is that they are only splash proof, not thoroughly waterproof.

However, since I tried Aftershokz aeropex I have used nothing else for running. Excellent sound quality (much better than AfterShokz Titanium) light, comfy, quick to pair with whatever sound source you’re using, no problem wearing with sunglasses AND completely waterproof.

There are normally discount codes floating around too e.g. ShokzSquad will get you 20% off.

I hear you on the Shokz and I get the safety bit. I tried them and gave up as I just couldn't get on with the feeling. I've been using Apple AirPods Pro for the last year, with the setting to enable background noise so I can hear cars (which I can switch to noise cancelling on the train). They fit well, stay in well and sound good. I mainly listen to podcasts running so clarity of voice is key

[I know, CW, I managed to find them after I’d ordered the others. I think I got confused and thought they where made by Taotronics]

The Jabra sport elite 75 are excellent but pricey. The hear through function is brilliant if you are on roads where you need to be able to hear.

I’ve also just bought some MiFo ones that are great sounding but don’t have the hear through.

Having tried a few, we have settled on the Trekz Titanium, which are pricey (though not compared to some on this thread!) but pretty decent. A headband over the ear helps on windy days. I'n not sure it is really worth going for hi-fi given the environment, but others' mileage may vary.

Thanks for the heads up on the ShokzSquad discount, SS. I've been contemplating getting Aftershockz for a few months but wasn't sure if they were worth the money. There's a 20% discount over Black Friday weekend, which saves £30 - that's worth having!

You’re welcome GM.

Think I saw also that AfterShokz were doing some sort of BOGOF from midnight on the 27th? Might be worth buddying up with a mate also in the market?

Other deals/brands are available😎

Biggest problem with earphones is that fit is absolutely personal. I've found over the years that JBL earbuds with little wings that sit inside the ear suit me best, so I run with JBL Reflect Flow, which are about £100. Like Joopsy's Jabras, they have one touch hear-through so I can press that if ever I have to run on-road and remain aware of my surroundings. Battery will go for 10 hours, and they're waterproof.

The other personal issue with earbuds is whether they suit what you listen to. In the interests of comparison, I mainly listen to podcasts, and stuff with guitars.
