NE - no, but it sounds like a great route. That's quite a walk taking in Skiddaw and Bllencathra.

Once on Lonscale Fell, we were quite tempted to strike out for the Cumbria Way and approach Skiddaw from the north via Bakestall, but we opted for the more direct route in the end.

I'm thinking the shorter and hopefully dry-ish underfoot Ullock-Long Side-Carl Side back via Dodd woods might suit me and the dog if it's not too windy on Sunday?

Sounds nice - I don't know the woods around Dodd, but hopefully you can find a return route that is away from the A591?

And if you are including Dodd in the walk, you'll avoid the ascent/descent between White Stones and Millbeck, which is just more steepness ;-)

All this talk makes me realise I've spent far too little time in the Lakes over recent years. There was a time people would mention the ridges and fells and I'd be able to place them all. Now they're just vague memories.

Or maybe it's just old age!

Rosehip, there is a circular option that completely avoids the road. I'll ping you the route later

Same here flanker, a few years back, we used to spend at least one week in Easter and another week later in the year in the Lakes.

This year I've only been to the Lakes once, to help marshal the UTLD100.

But after the Cheviot Goat I'm never moaning about the boggy areas, e.g. the ridge south from Walla Crag to Ullscarf, of Grassguards by Harter Fell, ever again!!

Thank you Bee - I can see there should be if the forest tracks are open- map indicates they’re permissive? Might check the wind direction and do it the other way around- I have my Springer stair lift and I’d rather he pulled me up steep bits rather than down them

(Though if this snotvirus gets worse I’m not going anywhere :( )
