That was just the walk I needed this morning :)
Could have done with the cloud burning off somewhat sooner though.

Rosehip - I see you took the first turn off Carlside which becomes a bit more "indistinct" until you pick up the second path down to the forest roads.

Nice walk that though, isn't it

There was someone coming up it and it looked generally the right direction- but there were a few “indistnct” bits-

Definitely a walk I’d do again:)

I see you went for the car park & tea shop option vs eL Bee's layby.
Have done Dodd's Wood & Dodd & osprey spotting there.

(tea shop is shut at this time of year - but the car park has the advantage of open, clean loos ;) )

A couple of years back we were lucky enough to be in Dodd Wood at the observation platform on the day the ospreys returned! Much excitement and some kind folks let us look through their telescope at the nest.

Bit about the bid for Dark Skies status on Beeb breakfast just now - more on NW "inside out" this evening.
I'm actually surprised the LD didn't have Dark Skies status already.

I'm surprised too. I swear I read an article somewhere about Ennerdale being one of the least light-polluted areas in the UK.
