It's the same people who throw rubbish from their cars driving along the roads all the time. I don't know what can be done

Are you in Wales Hann? If so then you can now travel anywhere within Wales there is no longer any local travel restriction. But you can't cross the border from England which I guess has a major impact on the number of people accessing places in Wales.
In England the 'stay local' is only guidance and is unenforceable and hence is just being ignored as irrelevant (you only need to look at fb to see that, before you start listening to the variety of accents of visitors).

Who's blaming the trippers? Native Cumbrians are devils for littering and fly-tipping. The verges around us are shocking even with VP and a couple of other people going out litter-picking regularly.
(OK, that Everest Base Camp/Glastonbury scene at Thirlmere probably wasn't locals.)

It's relative locals shitting in their own beds here too. No one drives very far to sit and picnic on the green or walk our paths, but the lazy f'ers can't be arsed to use the bins. Litter picking meets/rotas are the mainstay of our facebook pages.

That's true V'rap the locals certainly aren't saints but the influx of visitors yesterday had a noticeably negative impact here in the space of a single day (and by visitors I am including people from places like Derby which may be Derbyshire but I wouldn't consider them locals).

FF, I am on the border, with an English postcode. I am not allowed to cross the border, but as I am also not allowed into Hetefordshire: not local, i have bern to the market in Hay once a month and supermarket and feed store in Abergavenny once every 2 months. Sadly, all lanes around here were closed with metal gates, barriers and padlocks, to stop ingress into the park. I got so fedup with it that i have now started to walk and cycle again... After a year of house/garden arrest. Technically, my garden is out of bounds: Eastern slopes of Hatterall Ridge... But as Wales is now open, I went for a walk yesterday... 7 kms! Although that leads me out of my tiny village and into Wales, I'd argue I stayed local. We cannot leave our village if we cannot cross through Wales...

Last summer it was mayhem! I had to order no access, private, private garden, no public access etc signs to put everywhere as the masses would happily walk into my house, converted chapel but clearly a house: porch laden with coats and shoes, house plants in the windows, cosy furniture should give it away! Then there were these people, multiple lots, climbing the sheep netting to spend time in my garden. I was quarantining before and after a visit to my sister, jeapardising my visit to her. She has cancer and is in the Netherlands. Then there were those who used and blocked my parking: clearly a public car park??? For 2 cars???? Same about my garden: apparently public??? They trampled all over the pkace, shitting in the river which is our water source 😱 littering, bringing CoVid: we didn't have any before restrictions were liften last summer and camping in fields became a free for all...

I counted 67 people in my neighbours camping field. They have permission for 5 tents! Only 1 shower and 2 portaloos!

Blimey that's a real mess Hann! The worst of all worlds. Not really in either country in terms of doing anything practical. I did read about a golf course in a similar position, where the the first 3 holes were in England and the rest in Wales. So until last Monday English golfers couldn't play at all and the Welsh ones couldn't access those holes and the clubhouse. That got so much publicity that the Welsh government made a special ruling on it. I don't suppose for one moment they are going to do the same for you!

I have to say it was relatively quiet in the corner of the Lakes that I visited yesterday (Coniston) and the fells were sparsely populated apart from the Old Man, however I guess it normally is busy no matter what. Lots of young people in groups, poorly equipped for the fells.
