[OT: I took part in the first organised race on Lundy Island a couple of years ago. It also has a pub, but is a lot further from the shore than Piel Island. There are about 25 permanent inhabitants. I think they are all employed by the Landmark Trust. Quote of the day from the general manager: "You have really got to learn to accept people's faults and their idiosyncrasies."]

I have been with work. We anchored off and got to look around for an hour or so. Think we ran up and down the island. Think everything was closed as it was out of season.

We’ve just made a hopeful booking for a couple of nights camping on the day restrictions are supposed to ease to allow campsites to open. All being well the weather will be in our favour and with it being for the Monday and Tuesday it won’t be overrun with people.

After yesterday I'm going to start a petition to allow tourists in National Parks to be shot on sight! If yesterday was a pre-cursor of the rest of the summer we are in for a long noisy, litter strewn period of hell 😒. Either let them all clear off to Spain or bring on the next lockdown, quick! What is it that makes people think that emptying the takeaway detritus from your car onto the verge or over the nearest wall is in anyway OK? I passed two examples of this in the first mile of my run late last night? 👿
I guess if your a motorcycle fan the positive is that the TT races seem to have relocated to rural Derbyshire where solid white lines cease to exist and overtaking on blind bends is compulsory.

Sadly RH I'm sure you're right 😠 sadly the mentality of 'lets visit somewhere beautiful and trash it' seems to have been supercharged by lockdown.

Why don't people take pride in their countryside? Or is it a case of new countryside users who don't know any better?
A lot of us who are used to going out into the countryside know to take the trash home rather than just leaving it behind.

We were commenting only yesterday here, when on my walk, bumping into a neighbour, how quiet it was! Mind everything is closed here and we arent allowed to meet with anyone yet and stay local is still in place.
No idea what the National Park was like but Cardiff was mayhem yesterday. Most of the park is still officially closed, apart from the centre, so that may explain it.
