Are all car parks closed? Just how does the local Cumbrian go about their essential shopping? Or do people mean that all 'walkers' car parks are shut?

Interesting to read that the Yorkshire Dales Park authorities are not following the same line, they are opening all car parks with immediate effect and public toilets too following a deep clean regime.

Plenty of parking out west, but I don't see a mass of tourists rolling up in Workington, though St Bees is reported to have had lots of walkers and picnickers rolling up during the warm weather. I wouldn't, personally; one of my former colleagues lives there, and they're the sort who'd have the police lockdown infringement hotline on speed-dial.

There are car parks owned & operated by a range of bodies throughout the county. The link I posted earlier related to those owned by the National Park Authority. I believe the National Trust Car Parks are also closed (or, at least, have been). The SLDC ones in town are still open but relatively few folk come to Kendal for a walk anyway.

That's interesting NE, the Peak Park have issued a press release that essentially mirrors the Lake District and I haven't seen anything to suggest Derbyshire Council are planning to open their car parks either. Yorkshire seem to be flying solo but given that people are going to come anyway given what the Government has said there is a good argument for it. Trying to pretend that people won't arrive and need somewhere to park has an element of King Canute about it.
FR in Derbyshire the car parks in the larger places outside food shops etc are open but everything that would be particularly useful/attractive to people exercising or site seeing have been shut since before the lockdown.

Sorry - missed a couple - the supermarket car parks are also open (for customers)
Pub car parks around here are barriered shut

Perhaps I've misunderstood, but my understanding is that from Wednesday the Police have no legal powers at all with respect to 'travelling for exercise'.
I hasten to add I'm not leaving the Fens until this shit show is over.
