I hope there aren't too many like that -
Do Cumbria police have the same online reporting of rule-breaking as other counties? I'm not usually one for twitching curtains and telling tales and do feel sorry for anyone losing money on their holiday lets etc - but that really isn't right, is it?

As you may be aware (you're in the same BBC region as me), this made the local news last night.
The advice (direction?) from all local relevant authorities is Please Stay Away for the time being. Everywhere is, in fact, shut and will remain so until the Government restrictions are lifted. The concern about visitors is twofold - firstly, the potential for cases to be imported to the area and, secondly but more importantly, local health services are scaled to meet the needs of the permanently resident population. Any increase in that demand could lead to them being overwhelmed more quickly here than in some other areas.
Those authorities are looking at taking action against people running ads like this one - I imagine that action will, in the first instance, be a simple 'please change the advice on your website' but there was a suggestion something more substantial may follow.
We look forward to seeing visitors again when the world returns to 'normal' but, for the time being, please stick to the official advice.

I think the point about local health services is really the key one - and not obvious perhaps who don't think much about these kind of things. In similar fashion, the 'not going too far/too long on runs, walks and cycles is more about the potential risks of accidents and impact on emergency services - and not everyone thinks about that.

Our "minor injuries" service (which is a walk-in arrangement and not limited to patients of the town's practices, and has x-ray and plastering facilities) HAS seen a huge fall in demand, down to about 20% of usual. I was delighted to get some suturing to do yesterday. First in a fortnight!

I can provide you with some minor surgery if you're bored V'rap. Several deformed and in-growing, but CV-19-free, toenails that could do with sorting. You can do surgery via Zoom, right?

Could you self operate Flanker - with Vrap talking you through on video..?
Surely this is the kind of thing that people in remote Australian / African villages do already..?

Did I hear on the news yesterday that a campervan from Devon (yes, from Devon!) was intercepted by Cumbria police enroute the Lake District, wholly intent on spending the BH weekend there. Apparently they were escorted back to the M6 and pointed in a southerly direction. Slats would have been pleased

I'm not allowed to do toenails here, flanker. The NHS podiatrists have a cartel

Mushroom, I self-operate on my feet most nights. It just seems to make it worse long-term though!
