DeeGee Great idea.
With less than 50 people there's no permissions needed as it can be classed as a group run.
Even with more, the authorities won't mind.
The Met had a few giggles stopping 12 of us running past Downing Street at 3am for the nohtaraM dressed as Spider Man.
"What's in the bag?"
"Lots of Haribo gummies. Want one?"

You could have told me that a few months ago and saved me several hours and several hundreds of pounds!

I'd like to join a group event. I just need a date so I can book it off work (hopefully not also clashing with Warsaw marathon).

another question - does it start at midnight or can each fetchie decide when they are starting?

DeeGee Depends where the event is and whether it's "official" (fee paid, charity organised, etc). Anything can be shut down unless prior permissions are in writing from everyone who might have an interest or be impacted. My view: Do it & ask forgiveness later if required.

More likely to be midday and build up to night time.

I was hoping, if we choose June, to make the most of the daylight and start at sunrise, and see if I can keep going til sunset. I'm only thinking of doing, say, a 2 mile lap. Would that preclude me from joining in?

Thinking about start times, we could potentially accommodate everyone starting whenever they want on the day. If (say) you wanted to start at dawn, you'd just build up a bit of a lead over everyone starting later, but when you eventually tap out, you'd get to see whether anyone would overhaul your tally.

This would also make it possible for people in different time zones to start when they want, although it requires a little bit more dexterity from me with the coding :-)

And yes LazyDaisy, there's no reason we couldn't shoehorn a two mile option in as well. That now means four distance options (4.166667mi, 5k, 2mi and 1mi). I feel like I'd rather not add much more than that, as it would fragment the field.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
I thought it'd be good to have a thread for discussing F'Laps 2024 (Date 6th July 2024). Follow this thread if interested.

The Rules
1) You must run or walk your chosen distance (a choice of 4.167 miles, 5k, 2 miles or 1 mile) within each hour e.g. 9-9.59am, 10-10.59am, 11-11.59am.
2) Each participant must visit Fetch and hit the "Completed it mate!" link before the hour ends: fetcheveryone.com/flaps-checkin.php
3) If you're finding it too much, you can drop down to a shorter distance, or tap out.
4) The winner is the last person standing in each distance category.
5) You can participate on your own, or get together with other Fetchies.
