Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

ahhhh that sounds promising..... as i'd said above i'd ideally like to set off at the top of each hour but then pause my watch inbetween laps to give me one longer run so not uploading a 2 mile run every hour but acknowledging somehow that i'm still "in play" as you said Fetch its all a low key bit of fun so etc :-)

At some point when the dust has settled I’ll be able to look at training logs etc in the unlikely event that anyone is attempting to swing the lead. But I think we’ll all just have a bit of fun/discomfort :-)

I assume the normal starting on the hour is 'flexible' provided the entire distance is done in the hour period?

I am looking at running down to park run, doing park run then, then heading back home but dont need to leave for park run until 8:20-30 depending on how far i am going on the way there.

Would starting at 8am with a 4.17 mile jog to a park, running the parkrun and an extra mile, running 4.17 miles away from the parkrun and then at 11am decided that was too much so stepping down to 5K for the couple of hours, and then down to 2 miles, and eventually 1 miles be a valid strategy?

Would just aiming to run 5k on the hour for six hours be a more sensible strategy?

I'm actually taking part in a 12 hour track event tomorrow, following which I might decided to never run another lap again - so would a point to point route be valid?

I think mine will be mainly 1 mile laps except parkrun. They will vary in location a bit too. If the timing within the hour can be a bit flexible that would be useful.

I thought I was planning to run 5km for 20-24 hours.
But it appears that I signed up for the full distance.

Fair enough. I'll have a stab at that. I'll aim for a soft target of 6 hours with a stretch target of 12

Thank you. :-)
I'll give it a go... a shorter timeframe might be more politically correct here anyway.

On Saturday and Sunday my phone decided to serve up weather forecasts for Sydney.

I might take it as a sign and channel my inner NSW body-clock this weekend... to give myself a decent run at 8-10 hours without the risk of missing the excitement of watching England pass the ball sideways and backwards for an hour and a half at 5 o'clock.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
I thought it'd be good to have a thread for discussing F'Laps 2024 (Date 6th July 2024). Follow this thread if interested.

The Rules
1) You must run or walk your chosen distance (a choice of 4.167 miles, 5k, 2 miles or 1 mile) within each hour e.g. 9-9.59am, 10-10.59am, 11-11.59am.
2) Each participant must visit Fetch and hit the "Completed it mate!" link before the hour ends: fetcheveryone.com/flaps-checkin.php
3) If you're finding it too much, you can drop down to a shorter distance, or tap out.
4) The winner is the last person standing in each distance category.
5) You can participate on your own, or get together with other Fetchies.
